Hamakua Energy Partners, LP (HEP), founded in 2000, owns and operates a power generating plant in Honokaa, Hawaii. Since June 2010, HEP has been owned by a Boston based energy-focused investment firm, ArcLight Capital Partners.

The most fuel-efficient plant on Hawaii Island, HEP is a naphtha-fueled 60 Mega Watt (MW) combined cycle power plant and is the island’s largest independent power producer – providing up to approximately one-third of the peak power demand.  HEP is committed to providing Hawaii Electric Light Company, Inc. (HELCO) with reliable, efficient, flexible, and safe power through its power purchase agreement, for another 17 years.
